“Have you heard of ____?” is something I say at least once a week. Instead of saying the same thing every 5 minutes, I decided to start a new column featuring my favorite finds throughout the month. September was all about keeping cool and being present.
I knew I needed up my water game when all of my water bottles sat around gathering dust. It wasn’t until a friend introduced me to her water bottle that I realized I had been using the wrong kind all along! Contigo is affordable, BPA-free, leak-proof, and it’s flip top lid makes it easy to sip wherever I am, regardless of what’s on or in my hands!
It’s really easy to get caught up and bogged down by the ALL of the depressing news out there. That’s where Shine comes in. Rather than starting your day absorbing negativity and sad stories, this free service texts you motivational quotes, positive affirmations and actions every morning. Today’s post said, “In good times (hi, Friday) we can think ‘I’ll never forget this!’–but studies say memories fade fast. Savor a moment today, Leslie.” Who wouldn’t want to start their day with that? Best part, you pick the delivery time.
Another health goal is to eat more breakfast (can you tell I’ve met with a nutritionist recently?). B.C. (before coffee), I can barely function, let alone contemplate a complicated breakfast. I make a week’s worth of smoothies at a time, then divide them into mason jars (below the freeze line), pop them in the freezer, and take them out the night before I want to enjoy them. And voila, a week’s worth of healthy breakfasts with less cleanup!
June and July were all about weddings. One of my many hats includes being a day-of coordinator for Swig – Event Staffing and Coordination. I coordinated a wedding in July, and the couple introduced me to the best thing to weddings since flats. Joy is more than just a free wedding website; it’s also an app to collect RSVPs, message guests, display important details, link to wedding registries, showcase vendors, and upload photos throughout the wedding (that can even be showcased as a slideshow). It gave me serious organization envy!
Confession: I’ve never heard of Sophia Amoruso, Girl Boss, or Nasty Gal before the Netflix show (:( for it being canceled). But I can’t get enough of her inspirational podcast where she interviews female entrepreneurs, leaders, and badasses in business, creative, and cultural ventures, and how they got to where they are today. These women will inspire you to pursue your passions and put your best foot forward every day!
I love the feeling I get after yoga but struggled to find a class that fit my schedule. That’s why I’m obsessed with Yoga by Adriene’s Youtube channel. She offers classes for all levels, time lengths, lifestyles, and moods. She is the right mix of om and entertainment, enticing you to hit the mat more often. Now, I just need to figure out how to get my cat to stop joining me!
What was your favorite thing you discovered this month?
